I will be at The Maine Comics Arts Festival this weekend, Sunday, May 19 in Portland, Maine!

I will finally have my anniversary prints for sale! They are 11 x 17 inch, 4-color screen prints on a delicious offwhite paper. I personally mixed all the colors, and the prints were executed by my partner Peter Selmayr and our assistant Jeff Hoffman.

The first run is limited to only 20 pieces and will sell for $35 each. If they sell out we will do a second edition. I expect to have some left over for Anime Boston next week! These will not be sold online because of the high cost of shipping them safely.

At MeCAF, I will have all three issues of Prince of Cats, acrylic charms, postcards and poster prints for sale too. I’ll also be doing $5 sketchcard commissions. So if you’re in the area (okay, even if you’re not!) please come swing by! Guest of honor is Jeff Smith (Bone) and I’m personally excited to see Jess Fink (Chester 5000)!!

I’ll be sharing a table with Kori/Prince of Cats, everyone should come see us! I’ll have some festive swag, I’m in the midst of putting together a mini-comic and will have some other small things, including “treasure box’o free stuff” (found a bunch of old postcards that I need to clear out, etc). It will be great fun.

This is sooo ooold, but I found it while going through some folders and figured I’d post it. This is part of a zine I made several years ago. It is my sequel to the fable “The Lion in Love”:

A LION once fell in love with a beautiful maiden and proposed marriage to her parents. The old people did not know what to say. They did not like to give their daughter to the Lion, yet they did not wish to enrage the King of Beasts. At last the father said: “We feel highly honoured by your Majesty’s proposal, but you see our daughter is a tender young thing, and we fear that in the vehemence of your affection you might possibly do her some injury. Might I venture to suggest that your Majesty should have your claws removed, and your teeth extracted, then we would gladly consider your proposal again.” The Lion was so much in love that he had his claws trimmed and his big teeth taken out. But when he came again to the parents of the young girl they simply laughed in his face, and bade him do his worst.

Edit: I made this short when I was invited to be a guest artist at the grand opening of Coast City Comics in Portland, Maine (I think it was June 2009?). Anyways, they made the news for Free Comic Book Day: “300-Pound Drunken Monster Attacks Stormtrooper and Ghostbuster”

Studio/office area cleaned out, course texts replaced with comics and art supplies, ready for summer projects! (and hay fever)

Note the awesome wall art by Melody Moore and Lindsay Watson, and the Celine Loup mini-comic I received in the mail yesterday is propped up there as a reminder to read it on break today. I’m gradually expanding my art collection!
